The material was formedinto beads by dispersing the solution in a rapidly stirringhot (100 °C) poly(propylene glycol) (PPG 425; Fluka, BuchsSG, Switzerland) bath using an overhead ultrahigh-torquestirrer (Caframo Limited, Wiarton, Ontario) set at 850 rpm.The [C4mim]Cl/cellulose/BSA mixture was slowly added tothe stirring, hot PPG and dispersed to form small beads.During stirring (30 min), the temperature of the PPG bathwas allowed to fall to approximately 40 °C, facilitating ahardening (reconstitution) of the outer surface of the [C4-mim]Cl/cellulose/BSA beads, preventing subsequent agglomeration.The solution was removed from the stirrer, andEtOH was slowly added to further reconstitute the beads andwash the remaining PPG from the material.
