I would add another important comment: one of the most important properties of anodes for Li ion batteries are loading per square centimeter (should be at list 5 mAh/cm2 and volumetric specific capacity. Puffy/spongy materials with high surface area are not suitable. Many hundreds of papers were published so far on LTO anodes. This paper does not take us at all beyond the state-of-the-art. The cycling data presented are very frustrating. A pronounced capacity fading is observed, while these electrodes are supposed to demonstrate stability upon prolonged cycling. There is no serious explanation to the capacity fading presented and no attempts to demonstrate improvement.
