The results are likely to be good news for Vertex’s stock, which Wall Street analysts have said could trade up sharply on positive data because many doubted the studies would succeed. But they are a bigger victory for the science of developing medicines to target genetic defects, which is important in both rare and common diseases including in cancer. For topical products and other products where excipients are expressed as a percentage of the product formula, maximum potency is the highest formula percentage. Maximum potency of an excipient is a dynamic value that changes when FDA approves products with new, higher levels of the excipient.
